Nissan Qashqai Concept Wins European Design Award
June 15, 2004 Nissan's latest Concept car, the Qashqai, has won a prestigious award at this year's Sunday Times Motor Show Live at the NEC, Birmingham, England. It made it to the top of the judges' list in the best Concept/Prototype category of the Institute of Vehicle Engineers (IVehE) Motor Show awards. The Qashqai was first exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
A number of expert automotive engineers and designers, all members of the Institute of Vehicle Engineers, were chosen to study and inspect new cars and concept vehicles on display at the British Motor Show. A stringent scoring system was used as the panel of judges worked their way through the different categories. |

Get Ready for Hot Weather and Summerize Your Car
June 14, 2004 The first day of summer is just around the corner. And with rising temperatures and motorists hitting the roads in droves for vacations, the Automobile Club of Southern California is urging motorists to "summerize" their cars and trucks.
"It's likely a summer road trip will involve driving in temperatures above 90 degrees and that's when breakdowns happen to cars that aren't prepared for hot weather," said Dave Skaien, the Auto Club's Approved Auto Repair Program Development Manager. "On days when the mercury hits the 90s and 100s, the number of Auto Club members experiencing breakdowns increases by 50 percent." |

Nissan Begins Production of Altima Sedan at Canton Plant
June 14, 2004 The first Mississippi-built Nissan Altima midsize sedan rolled off the assembly line today, becoming the fifth vehicle in Canton's production lineup and concluding the plant's aggressive startup schedule, a key component in Nissan's global expansion plans. 
"Our team did an excellent job accomplishing a very difficult task," said Dave Boyer, vice president for Manufacturing in Canton. "I am so proud of them. Now that our launch phase is over, our goal remains unchanged -- building top-quality vehicles for the American marketplace."
Canton has the capacity to build more than 150,000 Altimas a year, which will supplement Altima production from the Smyrna, Tenn., plant. Canton's total annual capacity is 400,000 units. |
